German auto maker Audi recently rolled out its latest family car. The Audi RS6 Avant is said to deliver more punch than the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63. The third generation RS 6 have given justice to its legendary RennSport name, making it the best and speediest wagon ever made. Its exterior boasts a distinctive RS body styling with some bold revisions. It still bears the iconic Audi RS bodyline but the it’s been widened and the wheel arches has been extended. The 20-inch forged aluminum wheels add to the grandeur well deserving of a wagon.
The RS 6 can blaze up to 189 mph at top speed. This is due to the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 TFSI engine that can let out 560PS. The petro direct injection and turbo charging keeps the engine responsive. The four -wheel drive Quattro technology is laid on an advanced 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. The wide range of speed reduces fuel consumption and it also gives driving options from sporty to low rev, high way speed to suburban cruising. The gear changes is exceptionally smoother too on an 8-speed transmission. The tiptronic components respond efficiently to driver’s needs, giving the car utmost performance in cornering and upshifts. The super family car is equipped with paddles for gear shifts. CO2 emission test show a 229g/km while fuel consumption is at 28.8 miles per gallon.
Modern conveniences have been loaded in the RS 6 Avant. There’s an Multi Media Interface (MMI) Touch navigation equipment that provide topographical map displays which could be viewed in 3D graphics. Navigation is done through a speech dialogue system while directions are shown on an 8-inch hi-resolution colored touch screen. The voice-activated MMI Touch makes it easy for busy drivers to take directions. The console can also store addresses, phone numbers, and songs in a multi-language support. Safety features in the RS 6 Avant include the original airbag with a much improved adaptive design. It is packed in the front and two more are fitted on the side doors. Seatbelts have been enhanced with the three-point inertia reel that will strap the passenger securely in case of a head-on collision. Audi engineers’ attention to cabin details is exemplary so that the interior is undeniably superb. The seats were ergonomically designed and the controls were positioned to match with the human reaching pattern. The driver’s seat and the steering wheel promote a relaxed sitting position, providing ease and a satisfying driving experience.
